Raager: Managing and Tracking Job Applications in a Digital Age

Why Raager?

Raager is a job website that strives to simplify the job search process for users. The website adapts to the changing job industry by offering an adaptable web application for job searching, applying, and tracking applications. This case study aims to create a web application that caters to the evolving industry and aids users in searching and tracking their job applications.

Product Challenge

Finding and applying for jobs using an online platform can sometimes be daunting. The key challenge was to provide an online platform that allows users to search for jobs, and apply and track their applications.

Understanding the Market's Dynamics

We know that with the increasing digitisation of products and services, it's not surprising that the internet has become a prevalent source for job seekers and recruiters. Job seekers need to know how to market themselves online by creating profiles and resumes. All thanks to Linkedin for making this easier. Consequently, creating a job listing and tracking platform in today's market will face intense competition. We conducted a competitive analysis to compare and contrast similar apps in the market.

Defining our Assumptions

We made several assumptions that helped us better understand our research:

  • The job listing site is open to job seekers of all ages
  • Users should have some level of technological knowledge
  • The job site is not restricted to Nigerians
  • The site is designed for posting, listing, searching, and applying for jobs
  • Job seekers will be able to access recruiters, but interviews cannot be conducted on the site at this time
  • Each company should have reviews that job seekers can view.

Findings

Quantitative data: validating information

Having conducted qualitative research, we sought to validate our findings by performing a quantitative research. Presented below is a graphical illustration of the data collected:

Next Steps/Recommendations

After analysing the research data, we have made changes to the development direction of the Job Listing and Tracking app. The adjustments include adding a filter for job search, displaying the expected salary range for job positions, implementing a messaging feature for direct communication with recruiters during the application process, filtering out outdated job listings, reducing ads traffic, and adding a resume upload or link feature to simplify the application process.

We realised the need for a system to enhance our efficiency and productivity, which led to the development of a style guide. Our team collaborated to design it, establishing brand guidelines that could be easily adopted by everyone.

Raager For Job Seekers

Efficient  job listing website based on user preferences.

Upon conducting extensive research on user preferences, we discovered that users prefer to "get straight to the point and complete tasks quickly." As a result, we implemented this approach on Raager's landing page. Job seekers can quickly search for job listings that match their skills, qualifications, and interests, thereby saving them time and effort.

Improving User Experience through Streamlined Account Creation and Login Process

Our aim is to simplify the account creation and sign-in process for job seekers, which is why we have offered them the choice of using their Google account or manually entering their information if they prefer.

Job Preferences and Application Tracking for Job Seekers

Raager provides job seekers with the ability to set their job preferences, which gives recruiters an idea of the types of jobs they are interested in and enables the platform to recommend suitable job listings. Additionally, job seekers can track the status of their job applications on the platform, allowing them to monitor whether their application has been shortlisted, rejected, or under review.

Creating an Effective Job Seeker Profile

Recruiters can view the job seeker's information on their profile. Additionally, job seekers can review their own information, upload their resume, and even convert their profile into a resume format.

Conclusion and key takeaways

The primary objective of our research was to comprehend the job application processes and the preferred platforms used by job seekers and recruiters. We aimed to gain insights into the behaviour and characteristics of job seekers and recruiters, determine their interest in utilising a platform that facilitates job application and tracking, and enables communication with recruiters. The insights we obtained will steer the development of our product towards a user-friendly, straightforward, and efficient web application.
